Music Appreciation - Designed as a general music class where students learn the basic foundations of music, music terminology, and are taken through the history of music from Gregorian Chants to popular music today for grades 9 through 12.

MUSIC APPRECIATION
6253 1⁄2 Credit
Prerequisite: None
Music Appreciation is designed for students to develop an appreciation and awareness of all styles of music in the world around them. This course involves an overview of the historical periods of history and the great composers of each period from the Middle Ages through the 20th Century. Music Appreciation also includes a concentrated study of: listening and analyzing music examples from each period; the elements of music - melody, rhythm, harmony, tone color, form, texture, and expressive qualities; and how these elements are expressed in each time period.
Music Theory - Students who wish to learn more about music will want to consider taking Music Theory. Methods discussed include basic foundations of music, reading music notes, composing, conducting, and advanced music theory. Students who take this class are eligible to take the AP Music Theory Exam.

MUSIC THEORY

Prerequisite: Permission of the Instructor
Only students with some musical training or experience will be eligible. This is a course of basic music theory, key signatures, harmony, modulation, transposition, dictation, and basic keyboard. Year long course.
LHS Select Chorus - Under the direction of Mr. Lahoud, LHS Select Chorus consists of students who audition to be a part of the select group. Students in this select group perform advanced music, even college music, in various repertoire and languages.
LHS Band - Under the direction of Mr. Enos, LHS Band:
LHS Jazz Band - Under the direction of Mr. Enos, LHS Jazz Band consists of students that auditioned to be a part of a select group:
